Local Keyword Generator Tool

Let’s face it, local keywords are highly predictable, which is why this tool makes it possible to generate a geo modified keyword list in a couple of clicks.

Keyword research for foundational Local SEO keywords shouldn’t be time-consuming.

Local queries follow a pattern, making this sheet great for:

  • Plumbers
  • Dentists
  • Doctors
  • Contractors
  • Lawyers / attorneys
  • Specialized Physicians

The list goes on…

Before we jump in, it’s important to understand the importance of Localized Searches.

The Importance of Local Search

Here are a few quick numbers that emphasize the importance of local keywords:

  • 50% of people who performed a localized mobile search visited within 24 hours.
  • 34% of people who did the same search on a pc or tablet visited within 24 hours.
  • 18% of local mobile searches lead to a closed sale within a day.
  • 33% searches on smartphones were made just before arrival at a store.

There are several more local search metrics here, but these are the big ones.

What exactly does this mean?

People who perform localized searches make purchases and fast.

This also means that in order to capture these customers, you’ll need to capture their clicks.

To capture clicks, we’ll need to rank for some geo modified keywords.

How to Generate GEO Modified Keywords

  1. Identify Google My Business Categories
  2. Add Categories into the Local Keyword Generator Google Sheet
  3. Add targeted locations into the Google Sheet

Step 1: Identify Google My Business Categories

The best way to generate local keywords is to use Google My Business (GMB) categories.

If these haven’t already been established, don’t worry.

I’ve added this a list of categories into the Google Sheet.

Alternatively, it’s possible to steal competitor categories with a little bit of technical finesse.

Step 2: Add Categories to the Local Keyword Generator

After identifying the categories, add them to the sheet titled, “Location.”

Step 3: Add targeted locations into the Google Sheet

Next, just add the city name, and the target city name in Column K.

Then, add the city name + state abbreviation in Column L to the right.

Wrapping Things Up…

Now, head over to the sheet titled, “Keywords.”
